About The Boilover

So what’s the deal with this site? And who the hell am I?

Those are both valid questions. First, me:

I’m a Washington D.C. native living in downtown Cincinnati. I work in Real Estate, and I have a passion for the urban environment. I love being outside, and I’m always running or biking around the city, snapping photos along the way. I love to cook and brew beer, although the consumption of beer is even better.

I parked this website years ago in college around the time I fermented my first batch of beer. Until last summer it sat idle, displaying one lone image (which now serves as the background of my twitter page).

I started this site for a number of reasons. First and foremost, I like to write, and I wanted something to focus my attention on. That doesn’t mean that everything on here is a feature length article, but I always have a few things in the works.

I like to take pictures–I enjoy the stories that go with them. Facebook is great for that, but every now and again I like to add a little more than a simple caption allows.

I also wanted to display my view of Cincinnati, as an outsider with very few Cincinnati influences up until this point.

This site is under constant revision and in a state of semi-planned chaos, much like me. But I can categorize most of what I post about in the following manner:

Case of the Mondays

If you’ve seen the movie office Space you get the idea. Every Monday I’m either bitching about something, or showing you an example of someone else who is having a case of the mondays. Hopefully it makes your Monday a little more bearable.

Eating Well

I love to eat. Dare I say, I work out so I can eat more. I love almost everything out there, and I’ll try damn near anything once. To me, eating well is not eating healthy, it’s eating a well rounded diet. Yes, that does involve fruits and veggies, but sometimes it involves fried chicken and greasy burgers. Sometimes it means sushi, and sometimes it means a really healthy sushi roll that I fry the hell out of–and then add spicy mayo to.

Enjoying Life

It’s what I try and do most of the time, and it normally works out for the best.

Getting Away

I was raised in a family that traveled a lot. While we didn’t move that often (and when we did it was local) but we took a lot of vacations. Consequently, I love to travel. I don’t get away like I did as a kid, and most of my trips aren’t that exotic, but everyone needs an escape now and again.

Keeping Active

Being and active guy is a huge part of who I am, and it always has been. I’ve certainly had extended periods of inactivity (read end of high school and the beginning of college) but even then I would go on ski trips or at least play some frisbee. A large part of what I like about Cincinnati is discovering new places and methods of keeping fit. And if I get one lazy S.O.B off the couch then I’ve done my job, my civic duty, something to stop someone’s waistline from expanding.

Rules and Regs

Sometimes I like to examine the things that help keep us “free”.

Technology

I love that shit.

Urban Thoughts

I’m a city dork and sometimes it shows.
