A folding bike I would ride

I love to ride, and my primary bike of choice is a mountain bike, even if I’m riding in the city. I like the freedom to hop over curbs/potholes/debris etc. Secretly however, I’ve always wanted a folding bike because I thought it would be nice to ride to work, as well as other places where space can be a commodity. Most folding bikes (in my opinion) look stupid, and I feel like with their little 20″ wheels you’re putting in more effort than you need to on a ride of any significant distance. Here’s where this beast comes in. It looks badass, and it has full 26″ wheels.

Come on, it folds up smaller than the wheels! The way that front wheel folds down does kind of remind me of some nasty leg injuries I’ve seen (think Joe Theismann), but it’s still sweet.

Here’s an example of one that looks a bit too odd and has small ass wheels. This might still work for my 5 block commute to work, but not much more than that.

The thing is, a folding bike is still way down on my overall wish list--it’s just a novelty thing for me right now. I think that is true of most people, and it will be a while before we see this:

If you’re looking for a folding bike with full-size wheels, you should check out Montague Bikes (www.montaguebikes.com). I just bought one a few months ago for my ride to work, and it’s been great. I don’t feel like I’m riding a folding bike at all. The ride is about 5 miles each way, so I needed one with large wheels like you mentioned.
    Best,
